As it pertains to ESPN's list of the world's most famous athletes, Deontay Wilder has emerged as the face of boxing. The unbeaten heavyweight titlist made his debut on ESPN's annual "World Fame 100" list, appearing at number 34 among the 100 most famous athletes in the world today. Wilder (40-0-1, 39KOs) is one of six boxers to make the cut, the deepest the sport has run in the four years ESPN has compiled such data.

It's very clear that both men saw a dramatic rise in fame after their fight.

Wilder is literally shouted at wherever he goes, Fury is developing into a VERY public figure, like a Gronk.

So much for saying that neither man is enough of a draw to command 45%

Here are the 6 boxers and their stats from the list:-

        ("Search Score", Endorsements, Social Media)

        1 Wilder (100, $1.6m, 2.5m)

        2 Fury ( 7, $2.65m, 21.5m)

        3 Joshua ( 27, $7m, 7.7m)

        4 Canelo ( 44, $2.5m, 4m)

        5 Golovkin ( 40, $2m, 3.4m)

        6 Pacquiao ( 15, $2.5m, 11.6m)

Now, what I'd like to know is, how did Wilder end up in #1 despite scoring lower than every other boxer in every category except "Search Score"?

😂🤣 That's not how boxing works!
You can have a billion followers on Instagram or a billion fans looking you up on Google search but if those people aren't paying to watch you fight then those followers don't mean shet when it comes to commanding money during the negotiations!
Now I don't give a flying fucc about AJ, Wilder, or Fury but I do wanna see AJ and Wilder fight before one of them loses to someone else!

I think that scoring system is flawed. Most searched on their highest day is the most important criteria of the three and really it’s the least important. Someone could be searching “who is Deontay Wilder” for example.

Social media following is a better judge of someone’s fame and popularity as that’s their fame over time as opposed to one day. The most important factor when it really comes down to it is how much someone can command in sponsorships. Once again a better indicator of how popular someone is than how many times they were searched.
