does not matter, pac was in there with a guy who was 165+ and i thought yall said mikey is better than pac???? yeah they fought at 150, NOT 147. so this makes it even more impressive!

but the cotto fight was at 145 so this comparison doesnt make sense. the TS is comparing fights where both small fighters moved up in weight and fought bigger guys.

Also, we never talk about Margarito never avenging his losses to daniel santos. i should make a 2006 era thread on that.
yeah all of a sudden weight doesnt matter anymore right? manny fighting marg at 150! that's the impressive part!

Sergio Martinez called Margarito out after Cotto avenged his loss to Margarito. Sergio Martinez only had 3 losses in his 56 fight career: A TKO loss to Margarito in 2000, a Marjority decision loss to Paul Williams in 2009, and a RTD loss to Miguel Cotto in 2014. Coincidently, Paul Williams and Cotto both beat Margarito.

Martinez had already avenged the disputed loss to Paul Williams, so he wanted to avenge is only other loss. But Margarito had a fractured orbital bone from his fight against Pacquiao, that was so bad the doctors had to wait two days to operate so the swelling could go down. He almost wasn't cleared for the Cotto fight, and the injury was worsened by his beating from Cotto. So Margarito retired instead of fighting Martinez.

Even if he was fought soon after the Cotto fight, a rematch with Martinez would've been pointless. Martinez was widely seen as the #3 P4P fighter in the world at the time behind Mayweather and Pacquiao. No one would've given Margarito a chance after back to back beatings from Pacquiao and Cotto.
