He did nothing special, people got caught up with all the hype. Fighters go up a divison to fight champions all the time, in fact most probably did better than him. I know people are saying Spence is the boogie man at 147, but at least Mikey could have shown his boxing skills and win at least 1 round.
I agree 100%. The say he went up two weight classes because it sounds so much more impressive than just moving up one weight class which was the truth. Then there would not be all the dare to great BS. He had already fought twice at 140 and that was his best weight. He got down to lightweight one more time but he was probably having trouble making weight and was planning to leave 135 even if he didn't fight Spence. I say Mikey is not a real welterweight but he isn't a lightweight anymore either. The proof will be what weight his next fight is at. If he comes back at 135 then he really is a lightweight who went up two weight classes to fight Spence. If he comes back at 140 then that's his weight and he was a jr.welterweight who went up one weight class to fight Spence, not two weight classes. I think Mikey was and is a jr welterweight who will never fight Loma or anybody else at 135 because he can't comfortably make that weight anymore,

If you had 2 fights already at 140 with one as a championship fight, I don't care if it wasn't your latest fight, you're only moving up 1 division to 147.
That's how I see it too. Mikey had already fought two tough guys at 140 and established himself as a 140 pounder. If he had then fought Spence he would only be moving up one weight class. Just because he got down to lightweight one last time to Easter who everybody already knew he could easily beat then all of a sudden he is moving up two weight classes, Maybe some see it that way but I sure don't. Pacquiao could probably get down to 135 and beat a good fighter at that weight. Then if he returned to welterweight for his next fight would he be moving up two weight classes and daring to be great? When Mikey beat two good boxers at 140 he became a jr welterweight and returning to lightweight one last time does not change that to me.
