Did Both Mikey's and Errol's Stock Drop Last Night?

Did both guy stock drop last night?

Errol couldn't drop someone who got dropped at 130 and has no business being at 147. Although he boxed well it seems he doesn't hit that hard and is going to struggle to hurt guys 154 and 160.

Mikey showed no ambition to win and clearly came to survive for 12 rounds. At least Amir Khan tried to beat Canelo and took rounds off of him. Surely for a big PPV event you have to at least try?

Mismatches like this are bad for PPV.

I guess garcia showed good defense and chin...

If I spent $75 for that fight I would be pissed. What a joke.

Not really. Mikey's probably did because he talked a good game but eventually went into survival mode.

As for Spence, not much changes. He beat a guy much smaller than him. It's not easy to stop a guy who eventually decides they're just going to survive. Mikey has a lot of experience. It's not easy to stop a guy like that who has decided he just wants to go 12 and not throw much, even if he's smaller.

The shots Spence landed were similar to what he landed on Peterson, it's just that Mikey' s chin held up better. He also couldn't really hit Mikey with anything that he didn't see because Mikey was neutralized in a defensive posture the whole night.

I personally thought Spence fought a great fight, and showed us another wrinkle to his game. He used the jab, boxed well, used his feet, was able to get the left hand in a lot considering the other guy wasn't giving him much of a target most of the night. Didn't take many punches back either.

As far as Mikey goes, I think most people expected him to do better, so maybe his stock drops a little. But even with him I wouldn't be too harsh as it was such a unique mismatch as far as size, and that's before taking Spence's talent into consideration. Mikey was fighting a guy that could easily reach him with the jab, and could reach him with hooks over his own jab. What we learned about Mikey is that he isn't THAT special, he doesn't have that supernatural talent of a Floyd or Pacquiao, or even a Marquez to go in against bigger fighters and have the layers and skills to close the size gap and compete, and win.

Not saying it's easy but the fact that in 36 minutes he never even wobbled Mikey surely puts a question mark on his power if he has ambitions of moving up and being a force at 154 and 160?

Yeah, who knows. It's not like Spence has fought a list of top fighters and stopped them, so who knows what his power is like at a good level.

I still don't think he would've beaten Kell Brook if Brook hadn't dropped 2 divisions, had eye surgery and straight off a beating v GGG with no comeback fight in-between. Brook was winning that fight until he had nothing left because he dropped 2 weight classes. I still give Spence credit for making Brook pay for it though.

I think he can ****, i'm sure he's not a devastating puncher though

No. Spence looked like a dominant Terminator.

Mikey demonstrated his heart and toughness in defeat against a bigger, better man. Thurman and Porter have been scared shitless of getting in the ring with Errol, Mikey showed himself to have more balls than they do.

Spence showed great defense and stepped out of range very well Mikey had good D too but couldn’t crack the shell, he was just to small and wasn’t ready to die to win
