Comments Thread For: Spence-Garcia: A Look Back at Other David vs. Goliath Matchups

History, convention wisdom and just plain common sense tells us that, with all things relatively equal, the good big man more often than not prevails over the good little man in boxing. It might sound like an overused clich, but it has proven to be a reliable rule of thumb.

Correction: Pac- DLH was NOT held at 145 catchweight. It was at the full 147 welterweight limit. Oscar came in at 145 for whatever reason. Don’t know why people claim it was at 145.

Lmao. Pac-Dela Hoyanis not a david and goliath matchup. Dela Hoya was fčking shot when he fought Pac. Nowhere near the Dela Hoya who fought Floyd.

It was DLH's 1st time at ww in 8 yrs. Moving down is never a good idea. Moving down when you're shot ?!?!?!?

Yes you are right. According to team Pacman, Pac was 145 at his hotel room and was 142 officially only because someone calibrated the scale because De la Hoya was 148 and not 145 at all. The catch weight of 145 was Pac v Cotto. Fyi

Floyd & Coto are atleast one division bigger than midget Pacman.

yeah i agree. Pac is a lightweight fighting at a welterweight and still dominate the division in an unbelievable fashion.

Right! De La Hoya didn't look right at all. I'm surprised he didn't pass out before the bell rung. Hoya did good just to survive the fight imo
