I don’t think Spence is ducking anyone. Anybody with half a brain understands today’s fighters see it as a business also. Manny gives more on a PPV than Crawford or anyone else right now. I seriously doubt if Spence is afraid to fight anyone in the division. And this notion that fighters are afraid of each other; is really ******. When they sign up to fight professionally, their is an inherent risk of danger with that. Every fighter knows they can be seriously hurt or knocked out or possibly suffer permanent damage by the nature of the sport. I never bought into that. It’s a business, unfortunately as fans, we don’t want to hear that. But Mayweather set the tone for a lot of theses fighters and they are focused on the bigger paydays and the fights that make more financial sense to them. That’s why they all talk about being the next PPV star and face of boxing, it’s about the money.
Here is the other thing almost everyone is missing with this Spence and Garcia fight. Garcia is in there with a south paw in Spence. When was the last time Garcia fought a south paw. Every fight he has had over the past few years have been orthodox fighters. The body mechanics and angles are totally different with a south paw. And it’s an adjustment taking shots from a south paw versus and orthodoxed fighter. Mayweather and other great boxers have even struggled with south paws a little. And Lennox Lewis said something the other day that is key. And I don’t agree with everything he says. When you move up in weight regardless of how you walk around with natural weight, the guys that are used to fighting at a higher weight can absorb shots a lot better than guys in the divisions moving up. And a lot of times the power of the guys moving up doesn’t carry up into the higher weight divisions. He suggested that once Spence realizes the shots from Garcia don’t effect him, he will walk him down and try to stop him.
