Comments Thread For: Spence: This Win Over Garcia Will Make Me 1# Pound For Pound!

Wait - yet to have a signature, or even significant win in his own division...hasn't moved up and grabbed a scalp at 154, but claims that beating a natural lightweight who grabbed the lowest hanging fruit at 140 makes him PxP #1?
Beat Bud, or Thurman, and then you have a case. Until then it's all hypothetical.

Yeah right! So beating Algeria, Brook, and Garcia makes you p4p #1?

Nah bro, beating a lightweight at 147 doesn't make you the best lb for lb. I really don't think there is a best lb for lb but Canelo beating GGG is still the most impressive win last year (whether you think he really won or not). I'd say if Canelo beats Jacobs, he's the best lb for lb. Tired of this padded record mofos like Crawford acting like they are the best.

They at that point in fight week where they're just putting out BS headlines to try to create rooting interests for fans on both sides.

"Mikey fans, your boy can win! It's 50-50! Mikey truly believes he will win and take over 147 after this! Buy the fight!"

"Spence fans! I know you guys aren't buying the PPVs like we want because you feel this is an easy fight for Spence that won't prove anything, but actually, if he wins, he will be #1 P4P! The #1 P4P spot is on the line in this fight! Buy the PPV!"

            ****'s ****ing transparent in 2019.

Nah, if Spence wins, that's his Rigo win. Brook is his Linares, I guess. I mean he was bigger than Brook, Loma was smaller than Linares, Brook was coming down two weight classes, Loma was coming up, etc etc. But whatever I'm trying to be flexible since it's impossible to have exact comparisons. So there's his Rigo win, and his Linares win, sort of. After that, he still needs to go get his GRJ win, and his Walters win, and then he can say he's tied with where Loma is right now at #1 P4P, and he'll have just as good a claim as Loma and Usyk for the top spot. But beating Mikey alone, uh... no.

Any kind of win for Mikey has this effect. For Spence it really has to be an emphatic win, and even still it doesn't guarantee him the top spot by any means.

And if Spence wins then we have to get back to a Spence vs. Crawford scenario- a fight which goes a long way towards p4p supremacy.
