    Phillips-Reid crossroads fight ahead

    Phillips-Reid on Aug. 9!
    Promoter Art Pelullo/Banner Promotions, in association with Foxwoods Resort Casino, will present an ESPN2-televised fight card on August 9 in the Fox Theatre at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. Former WBO and IBF jr. middleweight world champion Verno Phillips (39-11-1, 20 KOs) will fight Teddy Reid (23-7-2, 17 KOs) in the 12-round main event. The Trans America Boxing middleweight title will be at stake. In the co-featured bout scheduled for eight rounds, undefeated heavyweight prospect Alonzo Butler (23-0-1, 18 KOs) will fight Maurice Wheeler (10-6-1, 1 KO). A lineup of five supporting bouts is planned to complete the event. Ticket prices are $35, $50, $65, available at Foxwoods Resort Casino Box Office (800-200-2882).

    Whoever wins this fight could be setting themselves up for one last run at a title shot. The winner of the fight would be deserving to fight someone like Rubio, Garcia, Simms, or Karmazin.

    when was the last time Simms even fought? I don't think the winner deserves **** personally. yeah they could fight one of those guys I guess for tune ups. Loser should consider retirement and the winner should too. Phillips should win cause Reid throws such wide punches that nobody even mediocre at best should lose to him, especially at this point. And Reid already beat Rubio I believe.
