I remember being intrigued when Golden Boy signed him. There was potential there for them to start making inroads at promoting across the pond.

Obviously a lot happened since then and things didn't pan out. It just wasn't meant to be.

I liked Anthony Ogogo's personality, he seemed to be in boxing for more than just the money intrinsically. If one memory of him stands out, it was before he even turned professional. I recall watching him train during the Olympics, and listening to his reflective and motivational thoughts. He seemed very humble but there was a spark of 'a healthy arrogance within himl' and I liked that, reminded me of David Haye.

But soon as he turned professional I could kind of see that, he lacked punching power or well? He just seemed satisfactory in every department, it was not as if he had any massive weaknesses at all. 'But as we now know from all of his injuries he hardly had a decent training camp in the professional ranks' I believe he was having professional fights, even though he was awaiting surgery at one stage 'So he had to adapt his training and style within the ring'.

He's s a great ambassador for the sport and I'm certain still has a lot to give the sport in an administrative or coaching capacity. Best of luck to a brave, passionate young man.

Not to be taken the wrong way - but at least it is easier that he knew his ceiling limit with his loss in his last fight and wont be left with delusions of grandeaur about losing out on becoming some great fighter. The stoppage loss in that fight will actually help him rationalize everything better and to know he didnt miss out on some super stardom. But it would have been nice to see him collect some more paydays. He was dealt a very hard knock in life with this situation with his eyes. I hope he can get the bills paid....maybe a gofundme.com account to help him with that. I'd contribute a little. Unless he has money to cover everything which I doubt cause the bottom fell out on all his deals.

I had only read his statement before I made my first post in this thread, but about 1 hours ago? I saw this interview, and it brought a extra light to this man's battles within the darkness.

I remembered wondering a while back why we had not heard anything from him or his camp for a while then I remembered his injuries, it’s a shame really but I hope he remains part off the sport be it as a trainer or promoter or even pundit would be good..

I'm hoping that maybe he can become a trainer....not sure the extent of his injuries as far as what he sees across a room. He needs to make a living.
