The only two I can think of are GGG ducking Ward and his mandatory. He wanted to fight Froch and others at 168, but not Dre. He wanted a catchweight of 164. He was also stripped for refusing to fight his mandatory, Derevyanchenko, to fight a 154 pounder bum in Vanes.

That's as clear as it gets. The ducking is real sometimes.

It depends how you look at things. What would be the issue with 2 guys who fight in different weight classes meeting in the middle? Put aside all the talk about facing this guy at this weight and not that guy...it’s not like ggg actually moved to 168 and fought anyone. Meeting in the middle seems a fair proposition so one guy doesn’t have 100% of the advantage in his favour, wouldn’t you say? If one guy refused to even entertain the idea of that, then who ducked who? There’s also the people who say ward ducked ggg when hbo wanted to make the fight and ward was having injury/promoter issues...so it really depends on what side of the fence you’re standing on. Neither really has a great reason why the other side is wrong, other than the fact they choose to support one guy, so they have to double down on it.

Why put the issue aside? Isn't he saying "Dre is too good so I need to disadvantage him?" He wanted to fight Froch and Chavez at the full 168, why not Ward?

Are Loma and Davis in the same weight class? This whole site is calling for it, and I agree, and would love to see that at the full 135, not some BS catchweight.

          Karma given.

There have been and are guys who actively duck other boxers. This is part of the sport of boxing. But around this forum everyone thinks they need to beat their chest and yell about ducking. It's idiotic. Even when obvious problems are pointed out - gross pay discrepancies, entirely unfair rematch clauses, preliminary bouts required - you get the same people who want to repeatedly cry ducking. They may think they sound big but to anyone else all we hear is tiny, tiny d*ick crying into the wind. Then there are the pieces we don't know. Injuries, glove sizes, ring sizes, locations, PPV splits, who promotes it, etc. that all come into play.

This is a business and, as such, it's the whole deal that counts. Top fighters know that their career hangs by a thread and just because someone is offering a few more quid for a fight doesn't mean that it's a good deal, especially if they can get 5x as much down the road.

As for actual ducking, I think there's some pretty good evidence that Larry Holmes purposely ducked some good fighters in the 80s - going so far as to give up his title to avoid Greg Page. It caught up to him in the end but after Holmes hit win 40 or so he wasn't really interested in fighting the top guys. Cus D'Amato / Floyd Patterson really avoided Liston until the cry became so great he had no option but to fight him. Rid**** Bowe gave up the crown to avoid Lennox Lewis. There are other cases of it but frankly the amount of noise it's given here is absurd.

You can't duck someone in a different weight class. That's just dumb. Just like I wouldn't accuse Dre of ducking GGG by not coming down to 160. By the time GGG/Ward could have been a big thing Ward was already moving up in weight. The timing never was right for that fight even if they had interest in it. Personally, I think Ward decisions GGG in that match. Ward's a damn smart fighter.

Also, GGG didn't duck Derevyanchenko to fight Vanes. He fought Vanes because there wasn't enough time to build up the fight with Derevyanchenko after Canelo dropped out. Any promoter is going to ensure that the risk and reward are commensurate. GGG/Derevyanchenko is a lousy fight for the MGM or StubHub Center or anywhere else in the US. It doesn't sell here. That fight has to take place in London or Moscow and would make serious bank there. There simply wasn't enough time to move the venue to a different country and promote it.

Then GGG made career bank - $40 million - by fighting Canelo again. That's not ducking, that's business.

I'm not gonna read all that. Are you one of the guys calling for Davis-Loma? If not, excuse this post.

And, it's a clear duck, when a fighter wants to fight some fighters at 168 and not others. Was Froch gonna fight GGG at 160 or 164? No, the full 168.

Remember, again, GGG refusing to fight Canelo at 155 but would come down to 154 for old Floyd? Can't defend this BS.

GGG chose Vanes over Andrade, Dervenchenko, or Saunders as well as the Jacobs rematch. That's a duck.

                  Nailed it.

Sometimes ducking is used poorly, but MMAPorter ducking Spence because he "wasnt ranked in the IBF" is a CLEAR DUCK

                    No. You CUCK.

Borat refused to meet Canelo or Cotto in the middle in 2015. He refused to give Brook 3 pounds or even 1 pound in 2014-2015. Then he called out Froch and JCC Jr. at 168, but Ward at 164. Ward, Froch, JCC Jr all fought at the same weight class of 168.

Pathetic DUCK. And it dont matter how you look at it LMFAO #BoratLogic

Let me make it easy for you. Froch in the UK =HUGE $$$$ and a bit of risk
Chavez Jr at that time =Huge $$$$ and basically zero risk

Ward = not alot of $$$$$ but alot of risk.

Pretty easy to see why they'd go to fight those other 2 at 168 bit make Ward come to 164.
You've been around a long time, I'd tlike to think you'd get how the sport works by now. Same reason Tank won't fight Loma anytime soon, the risk is not worth the pay.
