Comments Thread For: Ugas Resurrects Career, Preps For Upset Bid Against Porter

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Anyone who saw this coming five years ago, take a bow. Back then, in the late spring of 2014, Yordenis Ugas was coming off a second straight loss and third in seven fights and teetering on the brink of "good fighter, but not quite on the top level" status. To say he's righted the ship since would b...

Ugas should be allowed wear a helmet to the ring, Porter going to use his head all night. Rooting for Ugas to win this fight.

Rooting for Ugas to win the title, i hope he shocks Porter and takes the WBC title. Porters best punch is his head so Ugas must be careful at all times.

Going to be interesting if Ugas goes to the body on Porter. I just hope that if the fight goes the distance the judges give Ugas a fair shake.

I don’t want to hear about how Porter’s inconsistent aggression gives him rounds

He’s got a real solid chance to win. I say 30-35% chance of winning this fight. Porter is damn good tho. And he has a identity of being rough and aggressive on the inside but he showed a lot against Garcia. Especially that he can really box on the outside. He comes in a bit reckless. Ugas will need to stand his ground and counter attack with strong straight sharp punches. Score the occasional left hook and right uppercut. He’ll have to gain Porter’s respect early or the champ will just try to run him over. They’re both really feeling and looking good. I just think porter feels special at this moment. Excited for the bout.

Ugas is a serious contender. But Porter should be the favorite. I got Porter by split decision.

Ugas will win this fight and become new champion! He has been training with Memo Heredia for 4 months nonstop. He's ready.
