Word on the street for quite some time has been that WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev would defend against Monte Barrett on October 7, but it was never officially announced until Saturday night by HBO, which will televise the fight. The co-feature will be a rematch between WBC light heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek and Paul Briggs. The card was originally slated for Madison Square Garden, but will now take place at a venue to be named.
