No way, Jones is not a kick boxer either, he dabbles in Muay Thai . In a kick boxing match all it would take is a right hand and its over. A good puncher in any striking sport defeats a good kicker and the skill sets here in striking are not even close. A good example of this really is Cro Cop vs Miller, Miller wasn't the better puncher then and wasn't a world class kicker. . The same applies here. The puncher whos Joshua is way better then any kicks Jones throws. Jj is knows for spinning elbows anyway not kicking really.
In a kickboxing match could Jon Jones defeat Anthony Joshua?

"UFC striking" as you call it, is a modern evolution of taking the most effective striking styles of every combat sport that actually works in this format. Ironically boxers are the most primitive, as you called it. They're the most limited full contact combat sport. Great as an addition to a mixed martial artist, but utterly useless by itself.Comment

Unless AJ just can hit him which seems highly unlikely I don't think Jones last even 4 rounds. Most top pro heavyweight boxers don't last 4 rounds with AJ. Not much faith here on a boxing forum for the world heavyweight boxing champ.Comment

All joshua needs to do is learn to check the low kick. His high guard is already sufficient enough to block jons roundhouse/high kick. If josh learned how to defend himself from a kick he would merk jonComment

Yes, Jones would beat him, because AJ doesn't train to kickbox but JJ does. This isn't that hard to figure out. In fact, without years of training and conditioning, Jones would literally be able to take AJ out with low kicks. You can't get near a kickboxer if you don't know how to take those, and if you haven't conditioned your shins to deal with that punishment. It's not something you pick up in 6 months, or even a year.
Anyone who tells you otherwise has zero understanding of kickboxing. Train with some pro kickboxing/MMA guys and you'll quickly understand the different low kicks make.Last edited by Redd Foxx; 03-03-2019, 06:20 PM.Comment

With no wrestling I think AJ would win by KO. He might have trouble with the leg kicks but Jones would have trouble with the long fast straight fast powerful punches of the best heavyweight fist fighter in the world. AJ never fought anyone like Jones but Jones never fought anyone even a tenth as good as AJ with his fists. That's why AJ makes so much more money per fight. If champion kick boxers could box good enough to be champion boxers then they would be champion boxers to make so much more money.Comment
