Only the highly skilled can use the High Guard with attempts to successfully counter attack the opponents mistakes/openings.
Stiverne learned the Hard Way against Wilder in his first outing. Had Stiverne bob and weaved all 12 rounds the first fight consistently it may have been a different story, or at the very least not suffered as much damage from a guy like Wilder. Stiverne showed some good rounds against Joyce but in last rounds where the poor soul was already taken and peppered.
Miller likes to walk forward and pressure, use the high guard and take damage. Against AJ this isn’t a smart tactic. Miller should at least focus on head movement like never before. Miller should go back to MMA fundamentals and focus on distance as if evading kicks. If Miller needs to come forward with the guard then he should at least mix it up.
Miller’s camp should ditch the high guard bull rush only for Plan B. It could be useful if Miller starts it at round 5 onward. Slow AJ down and then walk forward.
