Comments Thread For: Anthony Yarde: Would I Fight Sergey Kovalev Now? Definitely!

ANTHONY YARDE fears no man as he targets a date with WBO light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev. But the Hackney-born boxer won't be rushed to world level until he feels like he can dominate the division. Yarde, 27, is 17-0 as a pro with 16 stoppages ahead of next Friday's WBO Inter-Continental title defence with American Travis Reeves at Royal Albert Hall.

Just 12 amateur fights at least explains why Yarde is being moved slowly, but you can’t help the feeling any of the top 10 at light heavy will wipe him out.

It’s a really strong division at present and I just don’t see Yarde as being able to trouble Kovalev, or any of the title holders - or Buatsi who I’d happily put my house on beating him now let alone a few fights down the line.

He already compared him to Wilder in terms of amateur background and how many fights it took Wilder to finally fought someone with a pulse, so I wouldn’t be shocked if goes 35-0 before he stepped it up.

He doesn't mean in real life, he means in Fight Night 2019 for PS4. Anytime, Kovalev! Punk.
