In fairness, based on record and past performances it wasn't exactly unreasonable to assume Fielding could do at least marginally more against the Dwarf Prince of DAZN than what unfolded. Instead of using his height and range or any of the things you'd naturally expect from a taller fighter in a marquee championship fight--things which he *has* done correctly in the past--he froze up like Rain Man for a brief night of lifespan-shaving liver shots and ****** autistic grins toward his corner. That night didn't (quite) represent the height of his abilities; he just succumbed to nerves and bombed in the worst way possible, or so I'm convinced.

Just like he did against Callum Smith. Fielding's a decent boxer, he just can't deal with the pressure of a huge show televised to millions of viewers.

Fielding could have come in at 200lbs, it would have made no difference. He’s a C level domestic fighter who was picked for a reason.

Help me out here....how did Fielding manage to make a "mistake" when he literally didn't do a fucking thing in that fight?

Exactly. Some fighters just psyche themselves out at a certain level of exposure. Even veterans accustomed to big ponds can succumb to this when stepping up to the next level for a high profile championship. Others thrive and show the best version of themselves. I see Jacobs as the latter, as do most I think. This is assuredly his biggest fight, but he touched this level before with GGG and handled himself more than capably.
