WBC, WBA middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez would like to avoid the scenario of facing another Mexican fighter for the remainder of his pro career. During his 54 fight career, Canelo has faced 23 Mexican opponents. The last time he collided with one of his countrymen was Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in May of 2017 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

I can respect Canelo's wishes of not wanting to fight another Mexican but at the end of the day boxing is a business and if he has to fight a fighter from the same country as him to prove he's the best then I can't blame him for it...

True, but Mexicans fight and kill each other all the time.

This would be a huge fight down line! I'm still happy about not having to pay for PPV anymore! Canel vs Jacob's will be free on DAZN!

I don't know.....I've never heard an American fighter say he wouldn't want to fight another American fighter. I never heard a black fighter say he wouldn't fight another black fighter. Morales and Barrera hated each other, regardless of their shared Mexican heritage. What is this krap Canelo is saying? It's ridiculous. Some of the best fights ever were Mexican vs. Mexican.

I really don't get all the hype behind Munguia. He's clearly not an elite fighter, and is very limited skill wise. He's getting by on basic boxing, size, power and great match making imo and needs much more experience at the top level for GBP to even be thinking about putting him in with Canelo anytime soon..

That part! But I also understand where he is coming from. Unfortunately a show down with Jaime is unavoidable for Canelo.
