The quality of Miller's pwn game...

Miller seems personable enough, and I do enjoy some smack if delivered well, so I was all ready to grab a few laughs with the guy.

I have to say I was greatly disappointed.

Joshua's a good boxer and a first-class dish, but smack talk isn't his game. Yet he not only held his composure with Miller and was on even terms in incredibly witless exchanges, but Miller even left before it was over.

This was a guy who'd threatened to make it psychologically uncomfortable for AJ, and all he did was 1785 variations on "your mom" jokes, and blew raspberries into the mic. It was REALLY poor. If Antony Joshua is on even terms with you in the smack talk game, you know things are poor.... it's like saying Amir Khan is on a par with you in the chin game, or Bermaine Stiverne can match you for motivation.

I can handle weak material - a lot of what Fury says is puerile - but if it's timed well, it can work, it really can.

But look at Fury. He possibly just has a funnier accent, though I don't necessarily think this is the case... lots of people with NY accents can be VERY funny. I think it's just that Miller's timing is so shit that he couldn't get a laugh out of the best joke in the world.

I'll always tune in for Fury's banter, but this was REALLY poor. If anything, I was impressed by how AJ handled it, and how composed he stayed.

The smack talk between Joshua and Miller was awful. Even Wilder is better at it. Fury is the king of it. But to be fair to Joshua it isnt his bag and hes being pushed to be a bit more smack like cuz hes in America and its more par for the course over there but it didnt suit him. Miller on the other hand, i expected him to school Joshua a bit in the talking game but he wasnt very good either.

That was the thing.. AJ was bad at it, but I didn't expect him to be good at it. But it was Miller bringing that "heat" and failing miserably.

AJ was just lapping it up and trying to win over the crowd.

To be honest I think he got to AJ, it shows in how he's acting out of character by talking trash back (weakly.)

        Round one to Miller.

Only a fat Yank or an AJ hater will say anything complimentary about Miller at that press conference. It was primary school stuff. No substance and no wit. Fake beef when he's been handed the golden ticket by AJ and Hearn.

Keeping composure would be like what Klitschko did in response to Tyson Fury's antics at their press conference.

Joshua on the other hand seems to have gotten ****** in by Big Baby, forcing himself to come up with insults about Miller being a "rotten disease" and other weak banter.

To be fair to Miller, this was a big moment for him, so it's not unreasonable that he struggled under the spotlight.

There isn't really anything he could use as trash talk either, that wouldn't be easy for Joshua to respond to and embarrass him with.

His best bet was the hard luck story about growing up, which just went on too long. If he had kept it shorter, it would have made Joshua's response a lot less savage.
