I remember when he clobbered Arreola, I thought he might be a special kid in the works, sucks it didn't turned out the way I hoped.

Just hang them up Stiverne, no need to take that nasty punishment anymore buddy

Good on Stiverne for muttering a thanks to the ref, and not getting theatrical and acting like the fight should not have been stopped. Sugar Ray did the same thing when he had nothing against Camacho. Sometimes a fighter is glad there's a merciful ref who knows when enough's enough.

Thought it was a great stoppage from a ref that is usually pretty bad

Stiverne had nothing left and just taking a sustained beating, even if nothing too eye catching. Those are the kind of fights that hurt fighters badly rather than quick finishes.

It would've served no purpose to let it continue

The ref did a good job. Good for Stiverne to show sportsmanship and thank the ref. Stiverne never quit but he knew he could not win.
