And man Garcia is really going to ****ed up by Spence. Lipinets may have only won 3-4 rounds but he did some real damage on Mikey, busting up his nose and landing some nice body shots as well. Don't get me wrong Garcia landed some nice 1-2's and left hooks but he never really hurt Lipinets or discouraged him from coming forward. That will be a much more serious issue against Spence who is an even bigger better fighter who will walk through everything that Garcia throws at him. So far Spence has done pretty much the same thing to all his opponents, he applies effective pressure, and grinds them down to where they are a stationary target and then he tees off with vicious body shots and uppercuts. He did it to Van Heerden, Bundu, Algieri, Brook and I guarantee he does it to Garcia too. Garcia is wide open for body shots! Spence has flaws too obviously but Garcia is too damn small to exploit them and plus he doesn't have the necessary athletic talent or skills.
I just rewatched the Garcia vs Lipinets fight....

Have to agree, Mikey is an excellent fighter but he is a great lightweight and he is facing one, if not the biggest welterweight out there, who is not old or shot, he is in his absolute prime. Lipinets is a good fighter and gave Mikey a really tough fight. If Garcia would actually win this fight then Spence is on a similar level as Lipinets.Comment

I agree with everything you said - it was a solid analysis. Sometimes, and maybe in Mikey's case, he will be supercharged and more focused than ever and put up the best performance possible, but the physical strength of Spence will bare down on him and take a toll. The best that I see Mikey doing is winning maybe 3-4 rounds, but then backing away and Spence punishing him to a UD. The worst scenario for Mikey is that after a couple rounds, he is taking a beating and getting dropped and stopped. I just cannot see Mikey winning this fight but if somehow he manages to, that sure lofts him up in the PFP rankings. But I think the saying "Biting off more than you can chew" fits exactly what Garcia is trying to do.Last edited by richardt; 02-22-2019, 11:48 PM.Comment

If Mikey miraculously wins, as Haymon, I would throw him the bank vault for a mega fight against Pacquiao.Comment

Yeah Spence is just too big for me to be really excited about this matchup. Would be interesting to see what Mikey can do, but seems like a forgone conclusion to me.Comment
