He is always training and always stays in shape.
Look at his instagram. just about every day he posts pictures of himself in the gym, training or doing some sort of athletic activity.
He also spars regularly and by all accounts has whooped Jean Pascal and Eleider Alvarez on a regular basis in sparring.
Trust me, Beterbiev is ready. He just needs the platform.

This should be a fantastic fight. Kovalev's not quite the scary boogeyman he used to be, but seems to have reinvented himself as a boxer rather than puncher. Beterbiev needs to be more active, but his ruthless streak is still there when he fights. I can see a stoppage win for Beterbiev in the last 3rd of the fight, with Kovalev ahead on points at the time. Beterbiev started the pro game later than Kovalev, but had his number in the unpaid ranks with a few wins in the bank and I see the same happening to close off their old rivalry.

Beterbiev has to win by KO/TKO.
