8 weight classes would be dangerous for the fighters.
The way to bring it back to its glory days would be to limit the titles to 1 per division. This would allow people not close to the game to get to know the champions. right now we have 16 weight divisions and 64 champions. How in the heck can the common fan, who boxing needs desperately, follow 64 champions.
One champ per division would help alot. It would make the other top fighters have to fight the best to get a title. Not by hand choosing who you will fight for a title and then after winning it hand choosing who you defend against.
Could you imagine what the rankings of fighters would mean if there was only one belt available. It would be a fight fans dream.
1.have the judges watch the fight in isolation away from the crowd and on monitors so they all have the same viewing angle of the fight.
2.i agree about the champ defending his belt 2-3 times per year, but he should never fight anyone ranked below the #2 spot.
3.prize fights...all fights should be split 70/30 or 60/40 with the higher % going to the winner of course. if this is a championship fight the champ gets a guaranteed 1 mil for accepting the fight.
4. the weigh in should happen the day of the fight just a few hours before. that way you would have fighters fighting closer to their actual weight.
5. their should be a commissioner/president of boxing something similar to the nfl/nba/mlb/ with universal rules.
