So what exactly did Wilder mean when he said "to this day"?

So I was in the breakroom at work (work a warehouse job) and there must have been about 30 black guys in there with only 4 white guys. On tv when wilder got mad and started yelling "to this day" all of the black guys in the room started cheering and clapping and were just getting loud. Me and the other white dudes were quiet and didn't understand what was going on.

It was a very interesting moment. Everyone in the room seemed to be riled up.

I guess I'm still in the dark, cause i don't know what he meant.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

It means ever since America was formed, it was built off the backs of African ******. Even after slavery ended, America still imposed many laws to suppress blacks and other ********** in this country. Many of those laws have been abolished along the way, and the country has become more inclusive. However even to this day blacks face forms of discrimination when it comes to the war on drugs, housing, employment, police brutality, etc.

So Tyson Fury is perfectly in his right to claim that gypsies have been fighting for 200 years. Wilder is simply saying that blacks in America have been doing the same for 400 years and still have more fighting to do today.

The problem here is, Tyson's ancestry have been bareknuckle brawlers-LITERAL fighters.

Wilder had to get offended by Tyson Fury's statement and make it racial by saying his people have been fighting 400 years-which is more metaphorical.

I hear you. I don't think either man is wrong. Fury did mean it in a literal way and metaphorical way though.

The best thing in life is family. As long as Floyd shares moments with his kids as he always does, then good for him. I don’t understand why whites, blacks and hispanics hate on Floyd. Who cares what he buys. He’s enjoying his life and I doubt God made fighters perfect. This is why several LDBC channels are clowns. They roll one way and then roll different on another day.
