Hearn is a promoter. It's his job to find a way to manufacture things like this. I'm not saying it's a lie, but I am sure they did whatever they could ticket availability, specific prices, making sure the right people were aware, etc to meet the specific goal of setting a pre-sale record to continue his long-standing narrative that "The American's will love AJ". Hearn knows he's got a big, competent, good-looking HW champion with an accent on his hands and he will stop at nothing in order to make sure AJ is as big a star as possible.
You see what he did with this fight and Miller right? I wouldn't be surprised if Hearn said to some of his staff "scout and find me another HW who has some character, who is undefeated. Let's throw some money and promises at him to play the thorn/rival to our AJ." "Make sure he shows up to one of AJ's press conferences to create a scene" like what happened vs. Povetkin.
Once they identify someone like that, in this case Miller, they say we want you to be AJ's rival for his debut in the US. Sign with us and fight on DAZN to give us a chance to show you as a marketable challenger.
That's Hearn's job. I'm not surprised by this. AJ, like him or hate him, is one of the easiest guys to market. Hearn knows he's struck gold.
