I have to say I stopped reading after you said Spence is "chasing lightweights". First of all this lightweight (singular) called SPENCE out multiple times to challenge. I would feel disrespected if I was Spence and commence to accept. So stop spending false narratives talking about chasing lightweights smh

Sure Mikey started it, but Spence was awfully keen on it when he’d previously responded lukewarmly to the prospect of fighting Porter or Crawford.

Everybody wants a piece of the top level guys for the belts and the payday, the champ isn’t obligated to answer every single challenge. If Charlie Zelenoff started calling Spence out would he have to fight him on the headline of a big bill? Is he really fighting Spence because he has to answer his challenge for the sake of his pride, or is it because he feels like he can make big money from an easy matchup? I think it’s the latter.

You're absolutely right! Mikey asked for this fight and he got it! Can't blame Spence for that.
But at the same time if Spence beats Mikey then how the fucc does that make him the "MAN"???
Mikey is still smaller than him and he's expected to beat Mikey so he needs to calm the fucc down with all that praising himself if he beats Mikey! It's ridiculous!

i think he means in terms of star power, fanbase, and attraction, not neccessarily in terms of being the best fighter at welterweight. I think he knows he needs to beat either thurman or crawford for that.

Also, based on what he said, it sounds like he wants to win in a way that people have no doubt that he would have won even without the size advantage.

It sounds like he wants to completely outbox garcia and then knock him out.

While Spence is kind of in a no win situation the exposure he is gonna garner is unlike anything he’s experienced up to this point. If/when Spence KOs Mikey literally millions are going to gasp at his performance. Whenever casuals hear his name he will be considered a bad ass and will interested any any/most fights he makes. This is literally this biggest fight he’s ever been in and potentially could be the biggest fight he’s ever gonna be in and HE KNOWS IT. You can tell from Errol’s comments that he is approaching this fight with the paramount importance it deserves. Yes us dweebs here on NSB won’t give him much credit but EVERYBODY else will and let’s face it ALL those casuals are more important than us boxing nerds.

This fight is huge for Errol and he is fully aware. This fight is also huge for Mikey but he has way less to lose and perhaps even more to gain?

Just to be clear Errol realizes he has to KO him. A points victory won’t mean nearly as much. Yes it will be better than losing but it will always be an asterisk on his record.

Spence has A LOT more to lose in this fight in my opinion. This is a scenario where he could win and still end up looking bad if Mikey troubles him or finds some kind of way to make it close.

I really don't know how, I can't see it in my head. But I keep thinking about what the lead up was like many years ago to Bernard Hopkins vs. Antonio Tarver at LHW. I couldn't see it in my head, perceived Tarver to be a way bigger guy (he wasn't) and BHop absolutely schooled him tactically.

I don't think this is the same thing, but if Mikey rises up and proves he is a strategical mastermind, we probably shouldn't be too shocked by it.

I just can't picture how he can overcome such a talented, young, bigger + probably faster guy in Spence though. I just don't see how. Feel like Garcia's best case scenario is a decision loss where he doesn't get majorly hurt.
