  • This Is Why You Turn Down A 15M Flat Fee

Found this little gem today, dated for 3 days ago.

We know Wilder made a little more than Fury.

The guarantees were 4M for Wilder and 3M for Fury.

Well, if those proportions were consistent in the pay-out, then Wilder made 17.3M to Fury's 13M.

But, even at 50/50, it's clear both men made a lot more than just 7M.

The fight was 50/50 confirmed by Warren.

Tell me, do you have a link that proves Wilder made only 7M?

        I'd like to see it...

          American dollars.

Fury’s purse for the fight was around $4.5 million but, once the pay-per-view money was collected across the world, he was thought to have banked closer to $13 million.

And one guy being guaranteed 4M will the other 3M is close to 50/50 but not quite.

          Desperate indeed...

It's an Australian site, it's Australian dollars.

13 mil Australian dollars = 7 mil pound.

The Fury guarantee being 4.5 mil in the article should have made it clear.

Oh damn. That's an epic fail of a thread if I ever seen one.

              Yep.

Got this wrong, plain and simple.

However, I am not the first person to confuse currency and I won't be the last.

Folks say "Fury only made 7M" but that is pounds- he made more than that in US dollars.

And Warren said "50/50" but the guaranteed purses were more 57/43 for Wilder.

Guaranteed purses and split are two entirely different things.

Here's why you don't turn down 15 million

Because if you win you are the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and making 50m a fight now

                    ...duh
