  • Comments Thread For: Machado Leaning To Rematch Clause, I Was Dead in The Ring

Alberto 'Explosivo' Machado is leaning in the direction of exercising a rematch clause for a second clash with Andrew Cancio. Last Saturday, Machado dropped Cancio in the first round, but then he was battered and dropped three times before losing his World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight (130 pounds) title in the fourth round.

He's going to lose again. He was never that good to begin with. Caught a chinny fighter (Corrales) with a shot in a fight he was clearly losing, that's all.

He'd lose to Corrales again as well in a rematch.

      Don't think it's an excuse . Didn't look right

Machado didn't look right. Perhaps weight drained? He was badly hurt though and didn't recover the next round . Legs had pretty much gone
I think rematch won't go the distance though.

And perhaps Machado can't fight going backwards so I edge cancio

"After the first round, my hands did not come out, I could not throw punches, besides I got too heavy in the ring. Because I was so dehydrated after the weigh-in, I was forced to eat a lot and went up there at 148 pounds when I regularly come in at 144 to 146 for a fight"

You fight at 130 and you coming to the ring almost 150lbs? He is too god damn big for 130 he towers over Miguel Cotto (his promoter) he has much larger 5'10 solid muscular frame then Cotto had. And Cotto never fought lower then 140 and as high as middleweight. He's been making excuses about the weight ever since the loss. His camp was talking about moving up all last year and said just last week the goal was to move up by late 2019. Forget the rematch move up to your proper fighting weight.

He's clearly the more skilled boxer. If there is a rematch i'd pick him to win. I don't think Cancio would beat JoJo Diaz if they fought again either.

He didn't just lose on 1 freak punch he was pressured and beat to a pulp for 3 straight rounds and folded like a lawn chair. I think the weight is a factor he is getting close to 30 and his body is telling him stop starving yourself to get to 130. He is talented move up rebrand yourself at 135 you will be stronger and get another title shot in no time. You starve yourself and get beat the phuk up back to back fights is a horrible look for your career.

Is he technically a weight bully who couldn't bully Cancio?

Yeah, I think much the same happens in a rematch. The first fight wasn't a fluke, it was a weight drained big man getting beat to the body repeatedly by a tough scrapper. He didn't use his size and range to keep Cancio off of him. He's better off moving to 135 if the weight is that much of an issue.

Not sure if he’s struggling to make weight or not
                    Did he just get beat
But I do know one thing for sure , he usually lets his fughin hands go
                    He just didn’t look himself
