I’m with you, Mikey deserves all the credit for doing what never happens in boxing. A superstar willing to disregard weight and risk his 0 against a big favourite. He asked for no weight or hydration clauses. Spence is allowed to take fights worth the most money. People can boycott it if they want. It’s not like champs haven’t fought way bigger underdogs, or won huge mismatches in minutes.

call me crazy but I think this is a very even matchup despite Spences size advantage,I think Mikey has better ring iq & more experience. I still think Spence wins,but by SD rather than by Ko.

I for one don’t think ur crazy. So many people think weight advantage is the be all and end all. No elite fighters greatest advantage was weight. Course Mikey doesn’t bring crazy power or speed, but he has skill. Who else but Mikey would dare to take this chance? Somehow weight is no longer a factor at heavyweight? Go figure.

Its not the end all be all , but for sure its a very obvious edge Spence has , not just by being bigger and stronger he is also USED TO FIGHT in this weight class , Mikey is not , he is not used to getting hit by elite 147 power puncher , he will be in a dog fight as well , whoever thinks he can just outbox Spence probably never watched Mikey fight , he is no Loma with his feet , he will counter and catch Spence with his 1,2 I have no doubt ,he is still a great fighter , but Spence should be able to break him down as he will catch him and hurt him , If Mikey does it , it will be an amazing feat to accomplish so I root for him , but common sense says he will not be able to do it.

HW is not so much different in a sense we have a new "super HW" class of fighters now , the giants , the days of small HW being competitive is gone , so in HW size matters as well.
in that category of "super HW" there could be a diff of 20 lbs easily , but at that size those 20 lbs will not be so meaningful as with the smaller guys.

We will see if you are right in regards to HW once AJ takes on the best CW of our generation Usyk at HW.

Remember that Robert Easter was about 2" taller than Spence, and has 4" more reach than Spence. Just statistics, but the point is that Mikey adapted well to the height and reach disadvantage. As Thurman pointed out, the danger of getting hit with a hook while throwing a jab is what makes the reach disadvantage dangerous.

Beating Spence is a tall order, but thankfully we have throwback fighters like Mikey Garcia to dare to be great.

Not much has been said about Spence being weakened from cutting so much weight after walking around in the mid or upper 170's. Mikey will be at full strength, and has the skills to make it very competitive. Even Spence said he knows he is in for a tough fight. FOTY possibly.

If Mikey pulls this off, it will be 10 times the greater accomplishment than Pacquiao beating DLH, who was 36 or 37 and a severely dehydrated shell of what he once was. If the rumours are remotely true that Spence was good enough to be laying his hands on Mayweather in sparring there's no way Mikey's is gonna have enought skill to make up for that size difference.
