Cubans who actually lived up to the hype?

I was thinking about the boogeyman Luis ortiz who all the wilde... er sorry, "Ortiz fans" rate so highly even though he hasn't ever had a single win of any note

Then i was thinking of other recent Cubans

Remember Odlanier Solis, who Vitali Klitschko was supposedly "ducking" and was gonna be "too slick" for the plodding robot? Then he got ko'd almost instantly.

What about Rigo, this guy was some sort of super sayen dude with god level boxing ability, until loma schooled him and made him quit

Gamboa was another one who a few years back was touted as being elite P4P level material, whom no man could hope to live with. He's pretty anonymous now.

And who can forget Mike Perez! The irish cuban. He was supposedly the "best heavyweight in the uk", and would destroy and demolish that bum Tyson Fury if he ever stopped ducking him. That didn't really pan out did it....

Gamboa was a great talent and had a pretty good career, just horrible management

What qualifies as living up to the hype? Because Ortiz, Lara, and Rigo have been more successful than the vast majority of pro fighters

Erislandy Lara has had a nice career, and it's not over yet.

I'd say that Lara has had a great career as did Joel Casamayor.

Rigo is still the goods, just the product of horrible management.

Rigo should be a star after Donaire!
