I have to admit, I was hoping they'd fight each other back in 04. Mayweather would have annihilated him though.

You also have to realize that, when sparring, the partner will sometimes play the role of the opponent that the training fighter will fight. So, maybe PBF wasn't fighting his style but was fighting like whomever Paulie was going to fight.

Whoa, Floyd looked huge, and slow and really out of shape.

Also, it's sparring... who cares about sparring?

Amigo! I don't understand the question?

When Paul Spadafora becausee champion it was a surprise. He was supposed to lose he title in his first defence, then he was supposed to lose his titile agaist Irwin, then he was supposed to lose it to Manfredy, well you get the point.

Spadafora had to prove himself, i remember the talk of Spadafora v. Mayweather sparring and nobody thought Spadafora was any better after seeing it. At least the boxing writers didn't pay it no mind cause sparring is sparring.

I honestly belive it was Max Kellerman as you say "bought the hype" but not because of the Mayweather sparring but because he was continusly winning. Though kellerman went over-board as he does with his estimation of Spadafora as a champion. At first he knocked Spadafora then later on, he praised him, probably kellerman gave in a little since one time Spaddy asked kellerman why isn't he ranked high on kellermans list of top lightweights.

So their "the hype" as you call it was never their, that i recall. And nobody really took that sparring seriously, but it was pointed out from time to time and Spadafora wanted to fight Mayweather but the fight never happened.

Spadafora is a good boxer, know how to fight, knows his way around the ring, has a decent chin i think he's been down before but has gotten up to win, i think with the division opening up again i think he has a good chance to be once again lightweight champion but i think he'll fight at jr. welterweight since i think that where he was going to go anyways that i recall - so know you know.

Why do people have to make excuses for floyd? Floyd got his ass handed to him in this sparring, it wasn't a real fight.

There are "excuses" and there are "explanations" or "reasons".
When one guy is in training for a fight and is in shape, and the other guy is just getting back into the gym, that is not an "excuse".

Unless, of course, you are a complete tool who doesn't understand the sport.

Floyd looked like a super middleweight in there.

Are you saying Floyd drains himself for fights?
