Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: Yarde Will Be in Position For Kovalev Shot Soon

WE HAD TO move quickly this week when we received news that Mehdi Amar, who was set to fight Anthony Yarde in Leicester on February 23, had withdrawn due to injury. It is not easy to find opponents ready to go in with Anthony at the best of times, so we had to rapidly pull out all the stops to put a replacement in place and Travis Reeves accepted the challenge.

Lol to me this looks like he’s not so sure about taking that fight now. Wouldn’t be surprised if it gets called and we see an injury.

Kovalev is not shot enough. So don’t expect to see that fight. Once he shows my vulnerability then he would be right for the pickings.

"Getting in position" sounds a lot different than "we really want that fight." Warren and Yarde will assume the position and then hold out and see if an opportunity presents itself for Yarde to win a vacant title. Tis a guarentee. A man doesn't go from avoiding domestic competition to fighting a certified killer in less than 6 months.

"Soon"? That means in a couple of years.

Yarde had a shot at a title belt previously and ducked, hes already in position for the WBO, pointless being more in position, fight or duck his choice. If he won't fight for a belt he should fight the domestic fights.

It's all marketing. We all know he's not ready for world level yet.

Good luck to Yarde he’s a talent.

But as a boxing fan I’m not really going to watch him until his opponent is at least top domestic level.

As lots of us say on here. The way he’s been crow barred into the WBO rankings is insanity.

Kova would smash him right now.

There's no way Warren let's Yarde move from the the fighters he's fighting now to Kovalev.

Way too big a jump it's all talk, maybe in 18 months, 2 years yeah if he carries on impressively he will get a title shot but Kovalev would destroy him right now.

Like you hear all the time there are levels to boxing and Kovalev is about 3 or 4 above anyone Yarde has faced.
