  • Comments Thread For: Jessie Vargas: I Already Accepted Terms, Waiting on Kell Brook

Former world champion Jessie Vargas is eager and ready for a showdown with Kell Brook, who at one time held the IBF title at welterweight. Vargas has accepted terms for a fight with Brook on a date in April in the United States. As BoxingScene.com previously reported, Vargas is now being trained by Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.

Brook's main concern will be making weight.

Khans been garbage since he ran outta 140. You've been Khan'd bro.. you realize this is his 1st title shot at welterweight right? Crawford will be his very 1st time facing a legit top 147lber. Hes avoided these kinda guys for years.. the guys hes faced at 147 were not considered top guys at the time Khan faced them. It's ok, you've been Khan'd but so have others..you're not alone

Brook may opt for the Horn fight. Lesser skilled with a name.

VargasBrook is a good competitive fight but I think Brook sees Horn as the more winnable fight.

Good for Vargas. I hope Vargas wins. Going to 154 though should be interesting. He won that Split Decision against Lopez a while back, and Haymon probably thought Vargas would be risky in with Thurman's injury and mental state. Vargas has had controversial fights stemming back to Bradley with an old experienced grandpa referee that confused the warning bell with the final bell under a Top Rank umbrella.. Then Vargas dealt with a Broner Draw.

Good for Vargas in testing new waters at DAZN. I hope this is Vargas' break. Imo he deserves it.

Glad this fight is three years too late.
                  Could've been a top-notch unification.

Brook needs to decide. He missed out on the last huge payday he will get when Khan opted for Crawford. This has at least a fun backstory to it. If Brook really wants Khan, he will go an easier route and wait on what is left of him after Crawford cashes his paycheck. If he has moved on, this is a decent enough scrap.
