      Yeah just read that
      What a fughin shame
I’ve been following his career ever since he came to North America and just what frustrating trek it’s been
I hope this is really not the case

        Aug 5, 2015 (usatoday.com):
... "Yvon Michel, who promotes Beterbiev, told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday that they rejected Kathy Duva's offer for a November (kovalev) fight in Moscow on HBO. The offer was for $500,000 and included 25% of the Canadian pay-per-view revenue (Beterbiev resides in Quebec)."

(from what I see in the news, now Kovalev isn't that eager to fight Beterbiev just next...)

          Yup i recall
Guarantee you it had a lot to do with that arrogant fugh Michel
He was making good fughin money by feeding these guys garbage and protecting them
Remember Beterbiev ( and the rest of Gym’s stable ) were guys coming to Canada with a suitcase , so very content with what they got
And hence the fact of being protected and told to stay in the province
A mans gotta eat so yeah their it is
I’m from MTL so yeah quite sad when you go down the list ; Lucas , Griffin , Dorin , Stevenson , Lemieux
Theirs a reason why Gatti ran to New York and eventually landed in Jersey

I remember some data regarding boxing in Montreal -- both Dorin and Bute are Romanians...

... now: I don't recall top fighters crowding to face Beterbiev back in 2015 and 2016, though...

YUp both Romanians and very good fighters
Imo , one thing that is missing for these guys is a world class trainer
Unfortunately not sure if u would understand the language debate we Anglo’ s go through here ( it’s racist to be honest ) so they don’t go out and look for the best trainer
Example, Stevenson went to Kronk , Frenchman’s didn’t bash him cause of Emmanuel Steward
But Arturo ate chit untill he became a household name , Andy that explains his one fight in Montreal
MTL became Atlantic City for the weekend of his fight ( I’ve experienced a fight in AC it’s fughin Arturo town from the announcement untill the last bell )

... ... Montreal earned a reputation for vice through American tourists fleeing the prohibition laws.
