  • Comments Thread For: Arum: Lomachenko Will Have His Hands Full With Commey

FRISCO, Texas – Now that Bob Arum has seen Richard Commey demolish an opponent, the 87-year-old promoter realizes just how dangerous Commey could be for Vasiliy Lomachenko. Barring something unforeseen, Commey will be Lomachenko’s opponent April 12 at an undetermined venue in Los Angeles. Ghana’s Commey knocked down Russia’s Isa Chaniev three times and stopped him in the second round Saturday night to win the vacant IBF lightweight title at Ford Center at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys’ training facility.

It is a tough fight for Loma. Commey can punch, and he's got size/height/reach. He's probably slightly bigger than Pedraza, but he hits much harder. That's a difficult fight for anyone, Loma included. Loma is great and all, but there comes a point where the size difference does make it really difficult.

Hopefully we can get this fight. Commey will come to fight.

Will the purse bid for Loma vs. Crolla stop the Loma vs. Commey fight from happening in April? I hope not, because I think Loma vs. Commey is a good fight! Salute to Andre Rozier! Looks like he has another one!

I’d rather see Lopez fight Beltran then Pedraza whilst Lomachenko fights Commey and Crolla then they can meet. Maybe have Lomachenko fight Berchelt first too to give Lopez another fight or two to get more experience.

I think Lomachenko would break a lot of hearts on here beating Commey, Berchelt and Lopez, proving a lot of folks wrong.

No, ESPN was talking like it’s already done for April 12th at Staples Center. I think the mandatory will be put off until July which is what Arum said a few weeks back. Have him unify in LA in April then go to England in the summer.
