Can Franciso Vargas do what Kovalev did?

I just seen Vargas vs Berchelt 2 is in March. I'm excited!

Anyways, I thought Kovalev was going to get beat again but I was wrong! So do u give Vargas a chance at revenge?

Nah . Don't think so . Kovalev been KO'd twice but never took the kind of damage Vargas has .
Berchelt takes him out in 10 on cuts .
After that hope we get Berchelt / Ito for a unification . Ito's No Joke either .

Very much looking forward to my boy Berchelt knocking him out again, probably even earlier this time.

I dont see Vargas redeeming himself because he doesnt have the dimensions that Kovalev has. Vargas only knows how to fight one way and that’s face first.

Alvarez got outboxed in the first fight until he got lucky with a combination. Berchelt pretty much controlled Vargas from the opening bell so i dont really see a correlation.

Berchelt might ruin Vargas for good in the rematch.

I don't think so. Vargas has been in a lot of wars and got pretty soundly beaten up the first time.

Vargas should have had a better career. He definitely disappointed, despite winning the WBC belt once. His fight with Miura is one of the best fights of all time. But he took way too much punishment and the worst part is that he didn't allow himself enough time to recover between fights.

Hey Boxfan, I remember you from another forum from back in 2004, I went by IsaL. Good to see you're still around.

As far as Vargas, I don't think he has enough to keep Berchelt off him. Even though Vargas is game and is a top fighter, I feel Berchelt is too strong and fresh for Vargas who has a lot of wear.

Vargas unfortunately has got a lot of mileage
And Berchelt is fresh as hell
Coming to an end for Vargas unless he wants to be the stepping stone for newcomers
Sure he’ll detour a few careers

Berchelt in his last fight looked really really slow. I dont know if the weight cut is effecting him but if Vargas boxes smart and keeps his punches tight, he can win.

Berchelt is a beast physically but in his last fight he seemed super slow. I dont know if its the weight cut or the muscle thats slowing him down but a good strength and conditioning coach would be beneficial if he wants to beat guys a level above Vargas.

                    I still feel it’s a long shot
Thinking even if slow , he still the bigger and stronger man
But your absolutely right , cutting weight can kill you
