    Do you actually think that?

It's probably one of (if not) the biggest measuring sticks in the game. It influences most of the arguments on the sport here on NSB.

I obviously meant it in the context of evaluating those three prospects! Not boxing in general. I clearly said all three have been fighting weak opposition at this point.
You really aren’t as clever as you believe bud...

Never said I was, just been watching the game longer than you.

That really doesn’t guarantee that you understand it any better than me. That’s determined by the aptitude of the individual, not by number of years spectating...

Considering some of your statements the "aptitude" thing is what's in question.

Haha touche. Listen, if you think Yarde is the more promising light heavyweight of him and Buatsi, then all your years of watching boxing haven't taught you much.

It's taught me to look at the level of competition, a lesson you still haven't learned.

Bottom line: We'll see where they stand in a year.

Then you can rag on me all you want if Buatsi *catches up to Yarde in the rankings* which he has a lot of catching up to do, but remember one thing, skills in the ring can be taught thru training and experience.

Raw athletic ability you're born with.

...... but that's another lesson altogether.

Skill and technique can be learned, but when we’re talking about world level skill set, that can’t be learned quickly or easily. That’s why it’s much more common for world level pros to have good amateur backgrounds. There are very few world Champions
who get there on athleticism and learn on the job.
Time will tell, but Yarde looks like a hype job to me.

You’re also talking **** about his level of competition. Regardless of number of losses, he’s been fed a steady diet of bums. To say anything to the contrary is deluded.

                    He does, at this point.

It's only now that he has to step up to real world level, we'll see how he does.
But then again Buatsi is just getting to the level of competition that Yarde is leaving behind, we'll see how he does too.

Anthony Yarde is THE most protected fighter in boxing right now. It's a joke that somebody who has beaten absolutely no one of note is even mentioning Kovalev. They need to at least step him up against somebody like Chilemba or Pascal. Otherwise if they ever actually do throw him in at world level he's gonna look like a fish out of water.

He has potential but there's only so much you can develop when you're padding your record against Lithuanian cab drivers. Bivol and Gvozdyk have already achieved a great deal more in a fewer amount of fights.
