It’s not the first time we’ve heard fighters say “we are 1-1, we can do a trilogy..”

In all fairness, Kovalev was KO’d in the first fight, let’s not forget. Rematch, Kovalev goes 12, I had it 8-4 maybe 8-3 for Kova. Nevertheless, the circumstances are Eleider Alvarez had a better fight in the first fight, why didn’t ESPN mention a trilogy? Do they not like the ratings for this fight and the only reason there was a rematch was for the sake of Duva’s power?

It just doesn’t make any sense that Alvarez wasn’t given the opportunity to mention a rematch on broadcast. Seems like he forfeited that right when agreeing to rematch contracts? Anybody know?
how did alvarez win more then one round?

Because not every round did Kovalev snap back Eleider’s head. Most of the early rounds Alvarez hit back with his jab simultaneously. So those attempts phase out and it goes to the Champion, all while Eleider still comes forward. Kovalev did too many combinations on a high guard where Eleider - the Champion - kept coming forward. That all diminished after the 8th round where Eleider couldn’t figure out what to do except to head hunt. Ramsey and Alvarez bet wrong that they could exhaust Kova late rounds. Kova did great to maintain distance and not rush too wrecklessly from 9-11. Kova fought great, under McGirt.

But let’s not kid ourselves, Alvarez had some good rounds, 2 without doubt. You can’t be a boxing fan and not accept 2 additional swing rounds that could go either way, depends on the bias. Therefore, 8-4 or 9-3 ain’t too shabby. Let’s not get it twisted. It wasn’t a Loma vs Walters bout

Ok, I’m jumping ship. If kitty Kov regather Alvarez again he’d paw him to another unaminous decision. I guess lightning don’t strike twice.
