If you're getting constantly tagged during sparring like that it's probably time to retire. Not to mention a detached retina at 33 isn't the same as it is at 22.

That's a career ending type of injury at this point. SRL had the same injury and had to have all kinds of painful surgery for fighting too long with it

I think the Tank fight was his biggest payday available, I don’t dispute Mares would have fought with ambition though, he’s a fighter at the end of the day and fighters believe they can beat anyone.

He was going to get knocked out anyway. Should have never signed in the first place. 126 is as high as he can go. 130 should have never been on the table. He doesnt even have power at 126 and would be a pillow puncher at 130. I saw he get bombed out live by Gonzalez at the home depot center. We didnt need a repeat of that.

Davis was a jerk for what he said to Abner. Total jerk. No excuse for that. And Mares must've seen something in Davis he could exploit or he would've chosen other options. Wasn't like there weren't several to choose from. Hope he takes it easy and heals properly before making any career decisions. Definitely no good will come from hurrying.
