Margarito owning Cotto... been a decade

Absolutely destroyed Cotto and made him submit on bended knees. I love that fight!

What do you remember about that night?

I must have missed that. I definitely do remember post fight Cotto saying he wasn't going to pay Golovkin the $800,000 he owed him in step aside fees. Then mumbled something about because I'm a money grubbing lying backstabbing little weasel.

Hmm my bad I thought you were trolling. I saw Marquez not Magarito. I apologize for misinterpreting your intent.

At the time I was real impressed by Margarito essentially bludgeoning Cotto into submission. In hindsight, I now watch it with a great deal of sympathy for Cotto as we all know what was likely happening in Margarito’s dressing room prior to the first bell. I enjoy watching the rematch though, were Cotto gets his revenge.

        It was a great fight

        That was a prime Margarito

The second fight was with a Margarito totally shot and destroyed by Mosley and Pacquiao

I remember thinking Cotto was boxing the best I'd ever seen him for the first 6 rounds, then fatigue setting in and Margarito taking over. Cotto couldn't handle the constant pressure. Cotto was my favorite fighter and I felt awful after the TKO

It's one of the best rivalries in boxing IMO.

When the fight was announced I almost couldn't believe such a great fight was happening. Both were on a great winning streaks and looked like machines.

The fight lived up to the hype and then some. It was shocking to see Cotto worn out like that and Margarito taking everything he dished out and then deliver his own damage.

Almost as good as the fights was the HBO special where they were face to face arguing about the handwraps controversy. I still watch that from time to time.

All in all, it still ended in tragedy as a boxing fan. Margarito to me was the ultimate bad guy in boxing and then the whole scandal with the Mosley fight and subsequent layoffs and losses ruined him. Cotto was never the same again either.

Beat Martinez, Clottey, Cotto, Cintron 2x despite mostly everyone ducking him. Even some of his losses like against Williams were impressive.
