Boxing Star Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin Sues Former Managers for $3.5 Million

Boxing star Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is suing his former management team claiming they took advantage of him for years and took millions of dollars that should have gone to him.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, GGG claims Maximilian and Oleg Hermann intentionally failed to account for revenue, took excessive commissions and more than they were owed, and failed to provide services for his most recent fights (but want money for them anyway).

He claims the Hermanns “have used their illegal, unlicensed relationship with Golovkin to extract millions of dollars in wholly impermissible and unconscionable fees, and now seek millions more.”

GGG claims he ended the relationship in 2017 but the Hermanns have been trying to collect on his huge rematch with Canelo Alvarez, even though he already severed ties with them.

He is seeking an order ruling their relationship is over and believes he is owed at least $3.5 million from their prior dealings.

GGG has a record of 38-1-1 in his 40 professional fights with the loss and draw both coming at the hands of Alvarez

Damn, could be one reasons he took these negotiations into his own hands alongside his wife. GGG seems like a loyal guy, but once you cross him, all trust is gone.

I'm sure he'll fare in court pretty well.

Man it's such a travesty seeing that 1-1 on his record. Just makes you want to throw up thinking about the corruption in boxing.

Looks like a case of Golovkin using them until he got a big money fight and then wanting to drop them, not wanting to pay guys what they're owed.

I don't know about that. It's a pretty slipper slope and if you notice, managers and promoters usually fair well in court. They always put enough loopholes in contracts to cover their a^^ if ever taken to court. So I wouldn't be sure that GGG will fare well in court.

I’m surprised Loeffler wasn’t name in the suit to. I mean dude was trying to swindle DAZN & ESPN into securing dates for his 360 promotions stable just to have a leg up on signing GGG. Unfortunately, Golovkin had to many used car salesmen on his team.

Let them solve this problem in a civilized way: throw both of them in a room with Golovkin, lock the door and come back ten minutes later. Two versus one seems fair. Make it a 3$ PPV. If Golovkin can draw one million buyers, he will almost get all the money that he believes his former managers owe him.
