There are just a few of things that're buzzing around my head about this fight:
1. Morales is coming off a series of wins; MAB from a loss and a not too compelling performance (vs. Ayala)
2. Morales has been campaigning at the weight they'll be fighting; MAB is going up in weight.
3. During the press conference that announced the fight about a month back, Morales showed a lot of vim and was talking some trash; MAB, uncharacteristic for a Mexican rivalry, did a humility act.
4. MAB has recently tasted the canvass; Morales hasn't.
For sentimental reasons, I want Barrera to win. At mid-career, he was the avoided one, and didn't get to rake in as much as his talents should have enabled him to do. His huge paydays were only with Morales, with the meetings vs. Junior Jones and Tapia, being decent ones. If he loses to Morales, he would have little bargaining leverage for future meetings with Pac and Marquez. If he does meet them, it's going to be Pac and Marquez who shall have gotten their demands met. Perhaps, he may be driven down to settle for the likes of Harrison, Chi and Juarez from which there won't be such huge money. Worse, he'll be viewed by the camps of those fighters as a mere stepping stone-- fate that is the ignominy of many has- beens!
On the other hand, a Morales loss will affect Morales' Pac date only ever so slightly, as long as he puts on a good show in Barrera III.
you make good points, might be the best one ive seen so far. I hope that for Marco's sake, he can take out Morales, get another crack at Manny, and call it a day. he has had a fantastic career, and i would hate to see another of my all time favorite fighters walk the path of Evander "where are my pants?" Holyfield (my all time favorite fighter,so sad.)

Thanks, pal! Coming from God's hand, I won't let the compliment pass!!! And yes, t'wud be such a sad sight if MAB goes the way of Evander, who (like you) I consider as one of those few who had lent dignity to the boxing profession during their prime, on top of their being great fighters. MAB and Evander: they're in my short list.
yeah i mean even now MAB will always be remembered and manny (atleast at this point) wont be remember in 15 years..i hope mab can do this..either way he will always be great and a legend..but if he can beat/ko manny and erik...
OMG...he would be up there with the greats like ali-forman-ray robinsion-pryor-J.C. Chavez-hagler-etc...
(others who may be added from our era)-jones-hopkins(if he can ko tito again)-tito(if he can beat hop)-manny(if he keep showing great heart)-winky..etc...
I am suprised to see so many going for Marco after his destruction at the hands of Pac. I think Marco will win, and being selfish, i want to see him redeem that loss to Manny and retire a truly astonishing legend.
Well brother I'm a filipino, a true boxing fan . . . . I appreciate fighters because of their skills, capabilities and values irregardless of nationalities. Siding with a fighter and Wanting him to win doesn't mean I hate the opponent. I simply have a lot of respect for MAB for what he is, for what he has accomplished. That's why I stated in my earlier post "sentimental" favorite. I just hope that that rematch again Manny doesn't materialize anymore because being a Flip you know on which side I'll be.
if mab beats erik..and then goes for a rematch against manny..i dont think it will split into a racail thing like JMM vs manny..it will be boxing fans from all over the world just sitting down to enjoy what boxing should be...a lengend vs a kid who wants to prove himself more then anything

I agree. But there shall be those who'd not be as relaxed as the majority; those ones with stakes, both real and imagined, in terms of money, fanaticism, national pride, etc.
