Comments Thread For: New Trainer McGirt Hasn't Watched Kovalev's KO Loss To Alvarez

FRISCO, Texas Buddy McGirt stopped watching tapes of upcoming opponents a long time ago. The veteran trainer didn't make an exception when he began preparing Sergey Kovalev for his immediate rematch with Eleider Alvarez. McGirt, who recently wrapped up Kovalev's training camp in Oxnard, California, still hasn't seen the fight that resulted in Alvarez's seventh-round knockout August 4 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The abuser is about to be abused!

I'm just going to put it out there like I see it; most guys who are known for beating women lose when they have a man in front of them with no fear. That is the case here, an arrogant Russian who's already lost mentally and with personal issues pending. The fight ends sooner! McGirt get that $$$ bro, *** Kovahoe

I'm curious about how the McGirt-Kovalev pairing is going to work out.

                  McGirt is not the answer.

I still see Kovalev getting fatigued and lazy, making the same mistake he did the first fight.

Unless he stops Alvarez early (which I don't see happening), the result will be the same.

If Kovalev wants to win his title back he needs to put jab Alvarez. It has to be a constant jab that pressures Alvarez into making a mistake. Same goes for Alvarez. He got away from his jab in the first fight but landed that monster right. I think it’s Alvarez’s best weapon. Nothing McGirt can really teach Kovalev just reinforce basic principles to get that strap back.
