Yep, give him two defenses against contenders and put it on FOX prime time and watch the ratings. Cooney vs Holmes wasn’t a massive hit because of Holmes.....and Plant can actually become a damn good champion

Imagine that! Caleb Plant bringing boxing to Nashville. Yeah Haymon needs to build his base there with a couple of showcase fights.

Yeah boxing isn’t very popular here. Last “major fight” here was Jermain Taylor-Jeff Lacy. And that one was so empty, HBO tried to make everybody in the arena move ringside before the TV telecast started.

As for Plant’s ability to create a big following here, it’s probably gonna be tough. Nashville isn’t like Birmingham/Tuscalusa, or even the whole state of AL for Wilder. Or Omaha or the whole stage of NE for Crawford. We have major league sports here nearly year round with the Titans and Preds. And only the last decade or so, Nashville has become home for a s.hitload of transplants. So fans here are very fair weather because there’s no real local pride there.

Selfishly, I hope I’m wrong. Because I’m the rare hardcore fight fan around here. And I’d love for Plant to build a big following here so I can have championship boxing at home instead of having to hop in a car or on a plane for hours to see championship level boxing.

No Blacks or Latinos in that town it seems. I like Plant as a boxer but he´s overrated, has an attitude, was helped by the judges and media in order to have a White boxer, etc. Let´s what happens whn he fights Benavidez or Zurdo Ramirez. Uzcategui didn´t want to win.....

I went to that same fight, it had Kermit cintron on the undercard. Everything you said about the fan base here is 100% correct.

                Congratulations to the champ!

Proved me and many others wrong by beating a prime champion who was considered the boogeyman of the division, by completely dominating in nearly all facets!

I like Plant’s chances against the other champs at 168! He’s the superior boxer it seems IMO and he now knows he can punch as well!

I liked what I saw from Plant. He flashed good skills.

It would be nice if he can spark some interest for boxing in Tennessee and the southern states in general.

Yeah Deontay Wilder’s pro debut was on that card as well.
