The fact is he was WBA champion. He beat Malignaggi, who was still giving the likes of Broner a hard fight around that time. So he was fighting at a good level.
Brook beat a former world champion before he faced Porter. Yarde hasn't faced any former champions yet.
Brook also had two gut checks with Jones. Yarde again hasn't been in a fight where someone's actually fought back tested him.

I find it hilarious that people were trashing Yarde for taking on weak competition and now that it looks like he's set to meet the winner of Alvarez/Kovalev for a world title, people are still trashing him. Pathetic.

Don't think anyone is trashing him just questioning how you can go from fighting the likes of Sek and Sequeira to Alvarez or Kov. That's a big jump.

They clearly don't want to touch Buatsi or anyone British level but they think he's ready for world level.

LHW is stacked at the top end, he hasn't been near anyone i would call even a B level fighter so to see him talked about as a world title contender is amazing.

They were still tests, fare better tests than Yarde has had. Yarde's resume is embarrassing. If you say Senchenko and Jones are bums, what the hell has Yarde been facing? Its a joke to be talking about him being ready for the top dogs at 175.
If he went in with Alvarez or Kovalev now, it would be a massacre.
I'd enjoy watching it though, so I actually hope Warren follows through with it.
