  • Comments Thread For: Yarde Confident He Will Be Ready For Alvarez-Kovalev Winner

An impressive victory over an opponent who has suffered only one early finish - in his fourth fight due to injury - and was only defeated on points by the formidable now world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk last year, will likely lead the WBO towards mandating the 17-0 Yarde to challenge the winner of this weekend's rematch between Eleider Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev. Yarde, who has been happy to bide his time up to now, suspects himself that his moment of world title truth is looming closer.

He needs to fight someone with a pulse who hits him back before he thinks about getting in with the top dogs. Has he actually been tested properly yet? You don't put someone in for a world title before they've had their chin checked and had at least one hard fight.

Frank knows this. Yarde will only take on the winner of this fight when they look completely finished.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Frank’s WBO connections could mandate the fight immediately after this one so the winner can’t accept and Yarde gets a fight for a vacant belt vs Reynold Quinlan

His defence looks very dodgy vs the better of the boxers he’s faced but he’s not once looked troubled when blocking shots with his face.

It doesn’t bode well when his side say every opponent is a step up and then Buatsi cleans the same guy out inside a round.

If Yarde challenges any of the world champs without first proving he can beat someone of at least contender level he will end the fight sat on his ass or flat on his back. It's plain to see the lad has power; but his attack is predictable, his defence is leaky, his chin looks suspect, and he's a bit cumbersome.

If he fights the winner he gains a lot of kudos for bravery, but its hard to believe given his record and Warren is already backtracking apparently his next fight is to see if he is ready.

He really needs a proper step up fight before going anywhere near the top guys but hes horribly over protected.

Yeah I'm of the opinion Yarde is a hype job fraud in regards to world level. Another Eubank Jr. Time will tell though.

I find it hilarious that people were trashing Yarde for taking on weak competition and now that it looks like he's set to meet the winner of Alvarez/Kovalev for a world title, people are still trashing him. Pathetic.
