Ok I get that. My point is this is about PBC building him for them, not for his development if you understand what I mean.

See my last response to killakali. I was just thinking that this feels like a bait and switch to me where they used Mares name knowing full well they'd pull him out at the last minute.

    I have no proof b

PBC just got a new TV deal. They are giving their bigger names showcase fights in their 1st fights to build interest and excitement.

This sort of fight is common and has been for the last 75 years or so.
Loma caught heat (and still does) for that ONE fight yet that circumstance of a (even smaller) man coming up in weight off a loss is commonplace for Davis.

Ok but a lot of the heat he catches is because posters that aggressively call out other fighters when they have fights like this don't bring it up when discussing Loma or justify it.

I think you know this isn't a big deal.

Sorry I was talking about internationally....

Smart move by Mares. He probably got a "back injury" like Maidana did when he signed to fight Bradley.

Ughh. Well Mares was going to get thumped on anyway. Too small to deal with Tanks power and his speed wouldnt have helped him because Tank is fast himself.

Mares is still more known internationally. Boxing is more popular In Mexico and Mares has been around a lot longer plus a 3 weight champ. Been on Floyd cards, headlined on sho fox espn etc.

Tank is still young. He needs more time.
