Comments Thread For: Cheeseman: When I Win Euro Belt, Fowler Must Earn His Shot

Ted Cheeseman says Super-Welterweight rivals Anthony Fowler and Scott Fitzgerald must "step up to the plate" and "earn the right" to face him as he prepares for the biggest test of his career next week in London. The Bermondsey star jumps up in class again when he challenges undefeated Spaniard Sergio Garcia for the EBU European crown at The O2 on February 2, shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.

The Commonwealth title is currently vacant & Fowler/Fitzgerald could been sanctioned for it. If & it's a big if that Cheeseman beats Garcia we could be set for a good old fashioned British, European & Commonwealth showdown.

I hope that happens! I think Ted beats Garcia and will be having a punt on it.

I always put the kiss of death on the fighter I want to win, so will be putting a fiver on Garcia.

Comm Wealth belt is pointless, it is such low quality, they should do away with it.

Then why don't do away with the Commonwealth games. There's 53 countries in the Commonwealth, which make it as valid as the Genuine European (EBU) title. It's the IBF/WBO Euro/Inter bauble's that want doing away with!

TBA’s having a busy night on Saturday. Surprised it’s not a Frank Warren show!

I rate the Cheese but these unbeaten Spaniards are normally decent and Matchroom is on a bad run of British level fighters losing their step up.

Mark Higgs, Comm Wealth is just a way of giving a meaningless belt to a prospect vs an unheralded foe with little to no chance of winning. The Comm Wealth is a symbol of Imperialism, it is out dated. Plus I would rather there be regional belts because it allows fighters in those regions to develop rather than be fed to U.K prospects and have no chance of winning.

I agree with regional title's such as Central, Midland, NI, Northern, Scottish, Southern & Welsh. Add to that Celtic & English, before British, EBU & Commonwealth & all's clear. The IBF & WBO currently have Continental, European, Inter-continental & International bauble's. There's also the B/S that's spread by the WBA & WBC's Micky mouse trinket's & the water muddy more.

All I see is a Big mouth. García is strong, has good movement and is a counterpuncher who throws lots of punches per round. In fact Cheeseman's style suits him very well.
