Those fighter had more ambition than the ones we are seeing now. Those guys see past money. These new guys only see money and how much more they can squeeze out of the Joshua gravy train.

Whilst AJ has better fundamentals than Wilder, he’s textbook. He backs up in straight lines and his defence is suspect. Fury went to Vlad’s backyard & gave him a boxing lesson, whilst AJ struggled with him despite he was 2-years-older & rusty.

Fury lost 140+lbs in a year coming off a coke binge and still handled Wilder. Imagine how much better he could be in another year if he stays on track. He is the most gifted HW by far in this era. Before you start bleating about power, know that just because Fury chooses to utilise his superior movement, doesn’t mean he hasn’t got power. Rather he rarely plants his feet to throw against an opponent he knows is dangerous. In addition, I believe he has the best chin of the 3. I’m not convinced AJ could recover if Wilder landed those shots he hit Fury with in the 12th, especially the left hook on the way down. To recover the way he did and finish the round having wobbled Wilder, was incredible.

Wilder V AJ will probably be decided by who lands the big one first, or if neither, by who’s stamina is better. I get that your latent h0m0-******ism is aroused by AJ’s physique, but those muscles burn oxygen at a rate of knots. Wilder has shown that, despite his poor technique, he carries that bomb right to the final bell & cannot be discounted.

Hopefully we get to see them all fight each other in the next year!

A puncher is not simply a man with a punch. It is an art form just like how we refer to boxer types. You wouldn't call Archie Moore a puncher even though he is the KO king. He's not that kind of fighter, he's slick and quick and counters like a demon. He's a boxer with a hell of a punch not a puncher with some decent defense.

A puncher derives his style from sword and shield warfare. A boxer derives his from fencing.

Postures and baits are more a puncher's tools of the trade than a boxer's

Angles and fients are the boxer's answer to the puncher's postures and baits.


So no, Joshua is not a puncher. Boxer-puncher at closest, but, the lad has far too many boxing specific tools in his bag to label him a puncher.

When I said punchers don't work for points I didn't mean fellas who hit hard don't work for points I meant for real, the theory of punching, pygmachia is it's actual name but no one uses it, does not center around accumulating points. It is centered around guiding the opposition into position for the perfect shot.
