i think some people get confused , a non defensive fighter doesnt mean they have a low ring iq..

take GGG for example, hes a stalker seek n destroy fighter, whos looking to cut off the ring and hurt you with big shots.. hes willing to risk getting clipped in order to put himself in punching range. hes always thinking, shifting.. while sometimes getting hit back. that doesnt mean he has no ring smarts

PEDquiao and Golovkin fight nothing alike, analyzing just by defensive vs offensive minded is really shallow for a complex art like boxing. There are dozens of styles, disciplines, variations, and forms in boxing, on both sides of the coin.

Golovkin has high ring IQ and has great defense, while not being a defensive focused fighter. There is this myth among casuals that you can't be good defensively and be a come forward fighter. Pacquiao has almost no defense, and has a "offense is the best defense" approach as he overwhelms his opponents with activity and accuracy. There is really no comparison between the two, they are completely different fighters and yes, you can literally see Golovkin think in the ring.

Pacquiaos volume has dipped dramatically, and overall his accuracy as well.. his punches arent as sharp and crisp anymore

An old pacman at this point, will throw around 500 punches over 12 rds, which is nowhere near overwhelming at the welterweight division, esp compared to his prime days where he could rattle off 1000 shots over 12 rds.

when i watch pacman operate today, i see a fighter whos well aware of his physical limitations, and knows how to properly pace himself over the duration of a fight.. he will throw enough to keep his opponents honest, but hes not blitzing guys anymore. he uses his great legs and footwork to his advantage to create punching angles and to keep himself out of his opponents punching range. i think pac is great at finding that distance right outside the pocket where unless hes throwing, u cant hit him. you see very low % rate from his opponents even who beat him... hell floyd landed a low percentage of shots.

but if you think hes just bombs away no brains in there, i guess u can think that. just my opinion ...

Nothing of what you mentioned is relative to ring IQ really though. He fights largely the same just with less volume. Of course you become adept at measuring distance and knowing your reach as a professional and elite fighter, this comes with experience and even amateurs master this with dedication.

Manny will still get caught flush often and he doesn't always know how to get out of trouble. He can be caught off balance constantly and doesn't know how to cut of the ring that well. He also depends on his corner for strategy and doesn't make adjustments well on his own.You can be great and be flawed.
