I know many people here dont like him because of his style but I think he's a elite fighter. Ive heard alot of people say stuff like he's going to suck at 154 because he already was feather fisted at 147. Most of the same guys think Paulie should move down for that same reason but I dont buy it. You dont need power.
Cotto is huge at 140 and I dont think anyone gives Paulie even half the trouble at that weight as Cotto does. The same goes for Spinks. Alot of people think he sucks for losing to Zab but Zab just matches up with Spinks well. Spinks is a slick southpaw who can box your ears off. The problem is that Zab was also a slick southpaw, therefore it netuarlizes Spinks main advantages.
Because Zab was a lefty, Spinks found him very hard to hit and because Zab was a lefty, Spinks found that it was much easier for Zab to hit him. Add to that Zab has crazy speed & power, and that spells disaster. No one else presents Spinks with those problems.
I also believe Spinks when he says that he was struggling to make weight. I recently rewatched both of there fights and you can easily see that he looked much bigger, slower, and more flat footed in the 2nd fight. I think he will actually be better at 154 and look as fast or faster then he did early at 147.
At 154 I think he beats Karmazin tonight, I obviously think he will beat Mayorga, I think he makes both Shane & Vargas look foolish, and I think he's too hard for Oscar to find at this stage. I dont think anyone at 147 can beat him except for Floyd. Margarito is awesome but its a bad matchup for him and I think it would look somewhat like the Mayorga fight or the Margarito-Santos fight but Spinks is better.
I think the only guys that can beat Spinks at 154 is Floyd & Winky for certain, and then both Forrest & Quartey have great chances if they are still on a high level. No one else.
In fact, I hope Floyd fights Margarito and isnt dumb enough to fight Spinks. His style is so dangerous for Floyd and it would be a very hard fight. I think Floyd wins and I wouldnt be surprised if Floyd kills him but I also wouldnt be surprised if he has trouble finding Spinks and loses a close Decision. Part of me thinks that he could give Floyd trouble like Zab did those 1st 4 rounds but he's smart enough to do it for 12. The other part of me thinks that Floyd showed Zab alot of respect because of his power and he wouldnt do that to Spinks and that would make it easier for Floyd to walk him down.
Either way, Spinks is a tough fighter and I think he will beat all those other guys I named. Do you agree? Ofcourse, if he gets killed tonight like alot of people thinks he will then I will look like a damn fool
